UEA – Fly Festival 2017
We are delighted to be working with the University of East Anglia on this year’s Festival of Literature for Young People (FLY). Launched in 2013, FLY is now one of the major literary festivals for young people. Its aim is to inspire them to read for pleasure, develop a love of the printed word, wherever it appears, and to discover the joy of creative writing.
Following a competitive pitch, Farrows was chosen to create the branding for the Festival. FLY is an exciting and gloriously packed week of events and the creative needed to convey this to the target audience of 11-18 year olds and their teachers.
The chosen theme is illustrative, depicting young people opening their books and reading, making the letters come alive off the page and float away around them. The colour palette of yellow and purple, with a variety of coloured letters is eye-catching and vibrant, bringing the Festival to life. The casual handwritten style re-enforces the messaging that the Festival is friendly, approachable and accessible to all.
The Festival branding has also been rolled out across a variety of marketing collateral designed by Farrows. These include, the Festival programme, website, posters and social media graphics.
