Royal Warrant Football Tournament 2010
Category SocialBy Will F On June 18th 2010
This year again we entered the Royal Warrant Holders Football Tournament. The tournament was again held at The Royal Chelsea Hospital Grounds and as usual we semi fancied our chances (good old British optimism).
We didn't start particularly well in the group stages losing 1-0 in a tight encounter with PAYE, however we followed up with two wins against Rokill and Taylor Pearce. This left us second in our group with 6 points and as a result a knockout tie against Toye, Kenning & Spencer. The knockout game was close, however TK&S snuck a goal and we couldn't find an equaliser, again another tight encounter but one which left us knocked out and packing our bags.
The eventual winners were Calor Gas Ltd. who beat DHL in the final. No one has managed to retain this prestigious trophy as yet- we'll be back next year to try again...

I was asked to photograph the launch of the Holland and Holland Overfinch Range Rover which was being launch and H&H’s shooting grounds in Northwood on 22nd September.
The event started with an hour of shooting, followed by afternoon tea served by Claridges in the Dining Room (delicious sandwiches, followed by tasty scones and amazing mini cakes).
Then followed the main event, the unveiling of what is deemed as the most luxurious Range Rover ever. A combination of the unmistakable Holland and Holland style and craftsmanship with the engineering and design experience of Overfinch, it was bound to be quite something.

Holland & Holland RWHA Shoot 2009
Category SocialBy Will F On July 7th 2009
We recently attended the Royal Warrant Holders Association Shoot at Holland & Holland. The day can get quite competitive and often we see ourselves desperately close to being the losers...
This year however we did alright and were quite comfortably above the losers. As part of the day, the flurries at the end included a remote controlled plane known as a 'Gnat' which you had several opportunities to hit and try and to take down. Many tried and a couple succeeded, one of which was us! Something we were pretty proud of!
Overall a great day...next up Brimslade!

RWHA 5-a-side Football Tournament 2009
Category SocialBy Will F On July 1st 2009
We entered a team into the Royal Warrant Holder Football Tournament again this year hoping for slightly more success than our last year's efforts. Feeling a bit more prepared and aware of the standard we headed bright and early to London for the morning league section.

We were keen to finish in the top two of the league and started off well with a good win against Louis Roederer.

Following on from that we had two further games against E V Bullen and Fairhurst Ward Abbots both of which we should have won but ended in 0-0 draws. Scoring was looking like being our problem yet again like the past year. Anyway 5 points was enough to get us through to the 2nd Round in second place.

Our 2nd Round Knock Out game was against Shepherd Neame who had won their league. It was quite a tough game and again one we probably should have won, however 0-0 it was again but this time penalties would decide it... Penalties were tense but we got a break through thanks to some great goal keeping and good finishing.

We then faced a quarter final clash with last years tournament winners, DHL. We battled well but ended up being beaten to a team who looked to be heading for the final... However Cranegates had different ideas and beat DHL in the semis to set up a final with Mayfair Cleaning Company. A heated final ended with Mayfair getting a well deserved win and the trophy.
Hopefully we will further ourselves again next year....

October Plenty 2008
Category SocialBy Will F On October 17th 2008
Those of you who received our 2008 calendar, should now have it turned to October to which you will see that it is about the festival 'October Plenty.'
This years 'October Plenty' is fast approaching. It will take place in London, starting outside of Shakespare's Globe theatre from 12 noon on Sunday 26th October.
The festival is good fun; you get to go inside of Shakespeares Globe theatre, which is a good experience in itself.

Here is a bit of information about the festival:
October Plenty is an Autumn harvest celebration held annually in Southwark. Beginning on the Bankside, by Shakespeare's Globe, October Plenty mixes ancient seasonal customs and theatre with contemporary festivity, joining with historic Borough Market, Southwark.
October Plenty is a collective celebration of the seasons, weather and food, in a public place, with access to everyone. The event is free, and happens whatever the weather.
This year, October Plenty, will be a part of Borough Market's Apple Day celebrations, with Southwark Cathedral.

We were asked to photograph the Prestigious Doggetts Race on the river Thames as part of the work we are doing with The Company of Watermen & Lightermen.
In this traditional rowing race, six waterboatmen race with the tide from London Bridge to Chelsea's Albert Bridge each year, in competition for the prize of scarlet livery with a large silver badge.
The Doggetts Race is one of the oldest rowing races in the world, the event was created by Irish actor Thomas Doggett in 1715 to mark the crowning of George I.
This year's race was quite eventful with a couple of capsizes and some good times. All competitors completed the race, even those who capsized got back in and completed the course.

Royal Warrant Holders Association Shoot, Brimslade
Category SocialBy Will F On July 25th 2008
The RWHA organised another shoot recently in Brimslade, at the Gauntlett Sporting Company. It was quite a different experience to previous shooting events I had attended; it felt as close to shooting birds as possible without actually shooting them, no cages and very random clays flying all over the place.
There was also a talk about shotgun history and particularly 'mufflers,' which included a demonstration of an old shotgun which when shot shook the floor like a small earthquake!
It was a really interesting day and I think we both improved a fair bit.
Thanks to everyone at the Royal Warrant Holders Association and Bruce Gauntlett for organising it.

Thames Barge Race- Saturday July 5th
Category BusinessBy Will F On July 11th 2008
We were asked to photograph the Thames Barge Race for The Company of Watermen and Lightermen last Saturday.
The Thames Barge Race is a race in which teams row the old style barges along the Thames from Greenwich to Westminster Bridge. The race is like taking a trip back in time, as this method of rowing barges, is the way the Watermen would have traditionally worked on the Thames.
This year the weather was good, possibly a bit too hot, as there was a strong wind and a difficult tide.
The winners completed the race in just under two hours; a pretty good feat, watching the race you realise that rowing a steel barge is seriously hard work.
All in all it was a very interesting day.

We were in a team with David Wilkinson from Wilkinson PLC and Sally Stubbs from Barclays.
There was a team competition and also an individual competition. We didn't win, and more importantly we didn't come last either, which was a relief...

After shooting, we had a nice hog roast lunch and headed back to Norwich.

Royal Warrant Holders Association 5-A-Side Cup
Category CharityBy Will F On June 9th 2008
After weeks of training, finally our big day came on Saturday; the RWHA 5-A-side Cup held at Kensington Palace. Repping Norwich in the teamís away kit, we started out in a mini league with Owen Brown, Fortnum & Mason and Fairhurst Ward Abbotts.
Our first match was against Fortnum & Mason. It was a tough encounter to say the least but we overcame our nerves to win 1-0 with a tidy finish from Will Pointer. Next up was Owen Brown, a match we dominated but failed to score; the match finished 0-0. Our final game was FWA, a match we wanted to win to finish top of the league. This match was pretty even with both teams having a couple of good chances and Neil Bedford making some vital saves. FWA, however, slotted one home resulting in a loss and us having to go into a play-off against Fortnum & Mason for second place. In the play-off we played well but Fortnum & Mason broke through and scored. From then on we piled on the pressure and got one back through Matt Taylor with an emphatic finish. We continued to push for the winner but ran out of time.... penalties it was. All was even until I stepped up third and hit the post. Fortnum & Mason continued scoring and were a goal up with the final penalties to be taken. Will Pointer bravely stepped up and put the ball wide, putting Fortnum and Mason through into the Prince William Cup and us feeling upbeat about our chances in the Prince Henry knockout.
We were put up against Tiptree in the knockout for a place in the quarters. Tiptree being a team we really wanted to beat having received rallying phone calls prior to the competition. We stepped out feeling hydrated thanks to the copious amounts of Gatorade we had knocked back and took Tiptree apart with a dominant 2-0 win. Goals came from Paul Strowger who saw the goalkeeper off his line and hit a sweet first time effort, then another another followed from Matt Taylor. This put us through and up against Champagne Louis Roederer.
The quarter final was a tough encounter, both teams very much trying to pass it and carve out an opportunity. Champagne scored with an unstoppable long range effort and from then on we pinned them back; Al smashed a great goal home after a maizy run into the opposing half. The game was then marred by a contentious decision (not the officialís first), in which the referee gave Champagne a penalty for a so called back pass by myself to Neil in goal. Anyway, Champagne finished it and although we pushed to equalise, they went through and we went out.
Champagne Louis Roederer went on to win the Prince Henry and DHL (UK) Ltd ran out winner of the overall competition.
A great time was had by all and we will definitely be back next year having pumped some serious iron. We would like to thank Victoria from RWHA and John Shepard from Partridges for organising the event. Thanks also go to our fans who came and cheered us on, Britvic for the Gatorade and Sam at Norwich City for loaning us the kit, at least we looked pro!

We have just started working with a small charity called 'The Norfolk Venda Educational Project,' Farrows will be supporting this charity using our skills as a donation. Something that is especially nice about the charity is that small amounts of money make a big difference.

The Charity works towards helping to provide people of the Limpopo Provinces in South Africa with water, stationery, and schools. Providing these necessities allows the people to become self sufficient and vastly improves the quality of life. We hope to raise greater awareness for the charity to enable them to further their already impressive support for the Venda people.

Whilst running a routine check on cctv footage we came across something out of this world, funny that this figure should reappear coincidently so close to Halloween.

The figure, who until now has never been caught on camera, seems to be working on some kind of design unknown to anyone The files cannot be found anywhere on our systems. Footage showed his strange skeletal hands working a mouse like no man i have ever seen!
It seems there is no logical explanation to this..... very strange indeed!
